The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has disclosed that more than 1,000 trucks are now loading petrol daily following its recent price reduction, a development expected to significantly boost fuel distribution and improve energy access across Nigeria.
According to the refinery, the surge in daily truck loading reflects increased demand from marketers and distributors nationwide, driven largely by the affordability of petrol after the price cut. The move is aimed at easing supply constraints, stabilising the downstream petroleum sector, and reducing the burden of high fuel costs on consumers.
Officials of the refinery noted that the improved loading capacity has strengthened nationwide fuel circulation, helping to address shortages and minimise price disparities across regions. The refinery added that its large-scale operations are gradually reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
Industry observers say the development is a major milestone in the country’s energy sector, as it supports supply chain efficiency, lowers transportation costs, and enhances market competition.
The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest single-train refinery, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure steady fuel supply, promote local refining, and achieve long-term energy security for Nigeria.
