Osita Chidoka: Ministry of Defence Urged to Engage His Research for National Security Solutions

There is an urgent need for the Ministry of Defence to formally engage and critically study the research work of Osita Chidoka, with a view to possible adoption and implementation of its recommendations to address Nigeria’s persistent national security challenges.

Chidoka’s work, which focuses on data-driven governance, institutional reform, and strategic security coordination, offers practical insights that could strengthen intelligence gathering, policy execution, and inter-agency collaboration. At a time when Nigeria is grappling with terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats, innovative and evidence-based approaches are no longer optional but necessary.

Experts have repeatedly stressed that effective national security management must go beyond conventional military responses and incorporate research-backed strategies, technology, accountability frameworks, and early-warning systems — areas where Chidoka’s research is considered particularly relevant.

Engaging such research does not only signal seriousness on the part of government but also demonstrates openness to homegrown solutions developed by Nigerians who understand the country’s unique security realities.

The Ministry of Defence is therefore encouraged to review, interrogate, and where appropriate, pilot the recommendations emerging from Chidoka’s work in the national interest. Nigeria’s security crisis demands ideas that work, regardless of where they come from.
