Social commentator and businessman, Isaac Fayose, has criticised some Senate leaders for lining up under the sun to welcome President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, at an airport, describing the act as “pure sycophancy.”
In a video circulating on social media, Fayose expressed disbelief that senior lawmakers would accord such attention to the president’s son, who holds no official government position. He argued that the gesture undermines democratic values and portrays misplaced priorities among political leaders.
According to Fayose, elected officials should focus on governance and addressing the challenges facing Nigerians rather than engaging in what he termed excessive loyalty displays to political families.
The incident has since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians echoing Fayose’s criticism, while others defended the lawmakers, arguing that the reception was a matter of courtesy.
Neither the Senate leadership nor Seyi Tinubu has issued an official response as of the time of filing this report.
