The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of a blogger and social media personality, Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, over allegations of inciting military personnel and spreading misleading information.
In a statement, the Army said the arrest followed online posts attributed to the influencer, which it claims were capable of undermining discipline within the ranks and creating tension among soldiers. Authorities also accused him of attempting to misinform the public on issues relating to military welfare.
While full details of the alleged content have not been publicly disclosed, the Army emphasized that actions capable of disrupting order or encouraging disobedience among troops would not be tolerated.
The development has sparked mixed reactions online, with some expressing concern over freedom of expression, while others argue that sensitive security matters should be handled responsibly, especially in a country grappling with multiple security challenges.
As of now, it is unclear whether formal charges have been filed or when the suspect will be arraigned in court.
