The defiant remark reportedly came amid escalating tensions between rival factions battling for control of the party structure and leadership positions.

Members of the faction accused Wike and his allies of attempting to intimidate opposition voices within the PDP, insisting they would resist any effort to silence or dislodge them from their offices.

The confrontation highlights the widening divisions within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections, as loyalists of different political blocs continue to clash over the future direction of the PDP.

Sources within the party said the disagreement is linked to ongoing disputes over legitimacy, party leadership and alignment ahead of possible coalition talks involving opposition figures.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent figure in the PDP before accepting his current role in the APC-led federal administration, has remained at the centre of several controversies involving the opposition party.

Critics within the PDP accuse him of undermining the party’s unity and working against its interests, while his supporters argue that he remains influential and politically relevant despite the internal backlash.

Political analysts warn that the continued infighting could further weaken the PDP’s chances of mounting a strong challenge against the ruling APC in the next election cycle.
