Former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has welcomed the directive by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, ordering a fresh probe into the disappearance of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata.

Dadiyata, a social media commentator and government critic, was reportedly abducted from his residence in 2019, with his whereabouts remaining unknown years after the incident sparked national concern and repeated calls for justice.

Kwankwaso described the renewed investigation as a positive step toward uncovering the truth surrounding the disappearance. He urged security agencies to carry out a transparent and thorough investigation capable of providing answers to Dadiyata’s family, supporters and Nigerians demanding accountability.

The former governor also stressed the importance of protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring that cases involving enforced disappearances and insecurity are treated with seriousness by relevant authorities.
