A member of the House of Representatives representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, Abdussamad Dasuki, has stated that Sokoto State now has the financial capacity to pay a minimum wage of ₦150,000 to civil servants, if increased federal allocations are properly managed.

Dasuki argued that with improved revenue inflows to states, governments at subnational levels should prioritize workers’ welfare, social services, and infrastructure development. He said prudent financial management and accountability would make it possible for Sokoto State to significantly raise salaries and improve public services without straining its budget.

He also emphasized that beyond wage increases, the state should focus on investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure to ensure that citizens benefit directly from federal revenue gains.

The remarks come amid ongoing national discussions about minimum wage implementation and rising cost of living pressures affecting Nigerian workers.
