Popular Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has stirred fresh conversations on relationships and gender roles after reiterating her stance that marriage is often overrated and may not favour women.
Speaking on her personal views, Jegede noted that while she respects and celebrates couples who have found happiness in marriage, her observations and experiences suggest that the institution does not always work in favour of women.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—marriage is overrated. For people who have found happiness in marriage, I’m genuinely happy for them. But from my perspective and within my environment, marriage doesn’t always favour women,” she said.
