President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an immediate manhunt for the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on a market in Niger State, which claimed the lives of at least 30 people.
In a statement released on Sunday, the President condemned the attack, describing it as a “cowardly and inhumane act” against innocent Nigerians. He directed security agencies to deploy all available resources to track down and neutralise the perpetrators, while also intensifying efforts to rescue victims abducted during the assault.
President Tinubu expressed deep condolences to the families of those killed and to the government and people of Niger State, assuring them that the federal government would not relent in its fight against terrorism and criminality.
He charged the Nigerian military, police, and intelligence services to strengthen surveillance, enhance inter-agency cooperation, and ensure that those behind the massacre are brought to justice swiftly.
The President also reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the country, stressing that attacks on civilians and public spaces would not be tolerated.
The Niger market attack has sparked widespread outrage, with calls from citizens and leaders for tougher action against terrorist groups operating in the region.
