The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed what he described as the most insulted politicians in Nigeria, saying that top political leaders often bear the brunt of public criticism and abuse.
Wike made the disclosure while addressing political leaders and stakeholders during a meeting in Rivers State, where he spoke on leadership, political resilience and the realities of public service.
According to the former Rivers State governor, politicians who take bold decisions and hold powerful offices are usually the most attacked in the country.
“If you are not important, nobody will insult you. The most insulted politicians in Nigeria are those who are relevant and taking decisions,” Wike said.
He noted that figures such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari, and himself have faced intense criticism at different times, stressing that insults often come with leadership responsibility.
Wike argued that public office holders must develop thick skin and remain focused on governance rather than being distracted by attacks from political opponents or critics.
“You must understand that insults are part of leadership. Once you are doing something meaningful, people will talk,” he added.
The FCT minister urged political leaders to remain committed to their principles and not be deterred by negative narratives, insisting that history often vindicates leaders who act decisively.
The meeting was attended by prominent political figures from Rivers State, as discussions centered on party unity, governance, and the future of politics in the state.
