The United States and Russia are set to hold fresh diplomatic talks in Miami as part of efforts to end the nearly four-year-old war in Ukraine, the White House has confirmed.
According to US officials, the meeting will involve senior representatives from both countries and will focus on President Donald Trump’s proposed framework for bringing the conflict to an end. The discussions are expected to explore possible ceasefire arrangements, security guarantees, and pathways toward a negotiated settlement.
A White House spokesperson said the talks are aimed at testing diplomatic options and reducing tensions, noting that while no final agreement is expected, the engagement marks an important step in reviving dialogue between Washington and Moscow.
The planned meeting comes amid continued fighting in eastern Ukraine and growing international pressure for a political solution to the conflict, which began in 2022 and has claimed thousands of lives while destabilising global energy and food markets.
US officials stressed that Ukraine and its allies would be kept informed of developments from the talks, adding that any lasting resolution must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Russian authorities have yet to release full details of their delegation but have indicated openness to discussions that could address broader security concerns.
The Miami talks are expected to take place later this week.
