Tinubu Presents 2026 Budget, Proposes N5.41tn Allocation for Security

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has presented the 2026 national budget to the National Assembly, proposing a total expenditure of N58.18 trillion. Notably, a record N5.41 trillion has been earmarked for security, reflecting the government’s priority to tackle persistent national threats, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings.

The budget, described as ambitious by analysts, also focuses on infrastructure, social services, and economic growth, but the unprecedented security allocation has drawn significant attention, signaling the administration’s commitment to stabilizing the nation amid rising insecurity.

The proposal is now set to undergo legislative scrutiny, with lawmakers expected to debate the allocations and make necessary adjustments before final approval.
