Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully ambushed a Boko Haram logistics convoy in Borno State, killing no fewer than 21 terrorists during the operation.
According to military sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement of insurgents conveying food supplies, fuel, and other logistics to Boko Haram enclaves within the state. Acting on the intelligence, troops laid an ambush along the identified route and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.
The encounter reportedly led to the neutralisation of 21 insurgents, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops also seized the terrorists’ logistics convoy, including motorcycles, food items, fuel, and other supplies meant to sustain insurgent activities.
No casualty was recorded on the side of the military, according to preliminary reports.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements in the North-East, stressing that ongoing clearance operations are aimed at degrading the terrorists’ operational capacity and restoring lasting peace to the region.
Residents of nearby communities have been urged to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
