Shettima Says Nigerians Abroad Often Identified by ‘Cocky Arrogance’

 Vice-President Kashim Shettima has said that Nigerians living abroad are often easily identifiable by their attitude, which he described as a display of “cocky arrogance.”

Shettima made the remark while speaking at a public event, where he reflected on the conduct and confidence of Nigerians in the diaspora. According to him, when one walks into a gathering of Nigerians in London, it is often easy to tell where a person comes from based on how they carry themselves.

The Vice-President noted that the confidence exhibited by many Nigerians abroad is rooted in resilience and self-belief, although his choice of words has since sparked reactions and debate, particularly on social media.

While some commentators interpreted the remark as a criticism of perceived arrogance, others argued that it highlighted the boldness and assertiveness Nigerians are known for globally.
