Mr. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, has donated ₦15 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, St. Charles Borromeo Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State.
The donation was made at the weekend during Obi’s visit to the institution, as part of his continued support for education and healthcare development in Nigeria.
Speaking during the visit, Obi emphasized the critical role of well-trained health professionals in strengthening the nation’s healthcare system, noting that investment in nursing education is essential to improving service delivery and reducing the brain drain in the health sector.
He commended the management of St. Charles Borromeo Hospital for their long-standing contribution to healthcare training and service, describing faith-based institutions as key partners in national development.
Officials of the College of Nursing Sciences expressed gratitude for the gesture, stating that the funds would be used to enhance learning facilities and support the training of students.
The visit attracted staff, students, and community members, many of whom praised Obi’s consistent advocacy for investments in health, education, and human capital development.
