Niger School Abduction: CAN Confirms Release of Pupils, Teachers, Awaits Monday’s Official Reception

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has confirmed the release of pupils and teachers abducted from a school in Niger State, bringing relief to families and communities affected by the incident.

CAN disclosed the development in a statement, noting that the victims have regained their freedom following efforts by security agencies and relevant stakeholders. However, the association stated that it is awaiting an official reception scheduled for Monday, where further details are expected to be formally announced.

According to CAN, while the released pupils and teachers are currently safe, arrangements are ongoing to ensure their proper handover, medical evaluation, and reintegration with their families.

The association commended the resilience of the victims and expressed appreciation to security agencies, government officials, and all parties involved in securing their release. CAN also called on authorities to intensify efforts to prevent future attacks on schools, stressing the need to safeguard educational institutions across the country.

The abduction had earlier sparked widespread concern, with religious bodies, civil society groups, and citizens calling for urgent action to secure the release of the victims and improve security in vulnerable communities.

More details are expected after Monday’s official reception.
