Abuja, Nigeria — Vice President Kashim Shettima has issued a strong warning on the importance of Nigeria’s stability and success, stating that the fate of the Black race globally is closely tied to the survival and progress of Nigeria.
Shettima made the remark while speaking at a public forum, where he emphasized Nigeria’s strategic position as Africa’s most populous nation and the largest Black country in the world.
“If Nigeria fails, the Black race has failed,” the Vice President warned.
According to him, Nigeria carries a historic responsibility beyond its borders, noting that the country’s political stability, economic strength, and unity have far-reaching implications for Africa and people of African descent worldwide.
He called on leaders and citizens alike to place national interest above ethnic, religious, and political divisions, stressing that collective responsibility is essential to safeguarding the country’s future.
The Vice President also highlighted the need for good governance, inclusive development, and security reforms, arguing that Nigeria must succeed not only for its people but for the global Black community that looks to the country for leadership.
Shettima’s statement has since generated widespread reactions, with supporters describing it as a patriotic call to duty, while critics argue that Nigeria’s challenges require more concrete policy actions to match such rhetoric.
