Ibom Air is set to commence international flight operations from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in April 2026, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed.
Keyamo disclosed this after inspecting the newly completed terminal building and the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo. He expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness and infrastructure in place to support international operations.
According to the minister, the facilities meet global aviation standards and align with the Federal Government’s drive to expand Nigeria’s international aviation footprint while promoting regional connectivity.
He commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for its sustained investment in aviation infrastructure and noted that Ibom Air has demonstrated strong operational discipline since its launch, making it well-positioned for international expansion.
With the planned commencement of international flights, Ibom Air is expected to connect Uyo directly to key regional and global destinations, boosting tourism, trade, and economic activities in the South-South region and beyond.
The airline’s management has assured passengers and stakeholders that all regulatory approvals and operational requirements will be completed ahead of the April 2026 takeoff date.
