Dangote Petitions ICPC Over Alleged Corruption at NMDPRA

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of corruption against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Ahmed Farouk.

The petition, it was gathered, centres on claims of alleged corrupt practices involving the leadership of the petroleum regulatory agency. Dangote is said to have urged the ICPC to investigate the allegations in the interest of transparency, accountability, and integrity within Nigeria’s oil and gas regulatory framework.

Details of the allegations contained in the petition have not been officially disclosed, and the ICPC has yet to issue a public statement on the matter.

As of the time of filing this report, the NMDPRA and its chief executive had not responded to the petition.

The development comes amid growing scrutiny of regulatory agencies in the petroleum sector, especially as Nigeria continues efforts to reform and strengthen governance in the oil and gas industry.
