President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to celebrate the Christmas season responsibly, calling on citizens to avoid excessive alcohol consumption in order to protect lives and maintain public safety during the festivities.
In a Christmas message to the nation, the President emphasized the importance of moderation, peace, and consideration for others, warning that reckless behavior, particularly alcohol abuse, often leads to accidents, violence, and loss of lives during the holiday period.
Tinubu stressed that Christmas should be a time of reflection, love, and unity, not a season marked by preventable tragedies.
He appealed to motorists to drive carefully, obey traffic regulations, and avoid drunk driving, while also encouraging parents and guardians to monitor young people during celebrations.
The President further called on Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies deployed across the country to ensure a peaceful holiday season, noting that government has put measures in place to safeguard lives and property.
