Army Foils Terrorist Attack in Borno, Neutralises Insurgents

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a major terrorist attack in Borno State, neutralising several insurgents and recovering a large cache of weapons and logistics during a decisive operation.

According to military sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the planned attack by suspected terrorists targeting civilian communities and security formations in the area. Acting swiftly, the troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat after suffering heavy casualties.

Several terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others fled with gunshot wounds. Troops also recovered assorted arms and ammunition, including rifles, magazines, improvised explosive device (IED) materials, and other logistics believed to have been intended for the aborted attack.

The Nigerian Army said no casualty was recorded on the side of the troops, attributing the success of the operation to effective intelligence gathering, professionalism, and sustained offensive operations against insurgent groups in the North-East.

Residents of the affected area expressed relief over the foiled attack, noting that the swift response by the military prevented potential loss of lives and destruction of property.

The Army reassured Nigerians of its continued commitment to eliminating terrorism and restoring lasting peace to Borno State and the wider North-East region, urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
