U.S. Launches Operation Hawkeye Strike Against ISIS Targets in Syria

 Washington / Damascus – United States forces on Thursday launched Operation Hawkeye Strike in Syria, targeting ISIS fighters, infrastructure, and weapons facilities following an attack on U.S. forces that occurred on December 13 in Palmyra, according to U.S. defense officials.

The operation was described as a direct response to the earlier attack and not the start of a broader military campaign. U.S. authorities emphasized that the strikes were carried out to protect American personnel and deter future attacks on U.S. forces operating in the region.

In a strongly worded statement, the U.S. Secretary of War said the United States would continue to act decisively against groups that target American forces, stressing that the country remains committed to defending its citizens and military personnel wherever they are deployed.

Officials said further actions would depend on developments on the ground, while reaffirming the U.S. position that ISIS remains a security threat despite previous territorial defeats.
