The Northern Reconciliation Group (NRG), on Tuesday, paid courtesy visits to the headquarters of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), representing the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) headquarters in Kaduna.
The visits were part of the group’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, reconciliation, and religious harmony in Northern Nigeria and the country at large.
Members of the NRG said the engagements were aimed at fostering dialogue and mutual understanding among religious leaders, stressing the importance of unity in addressing insecurity and social tensions in the region.
During the visits, the group emphasised the need for sustained collaboration between Christian and Muslim leaders to strengthen peaceful coexistence and discourage religious intolerance.
Leaders of both CAN and JNI reportedly welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary in view of the current challenges confronting the region. They reaffirmed their commitment to peace, tolerance, and interfaith cooperation.
The NRG noted that the consultations form part of a broader reconciliation drive targeted at engaging key stakeholders across Northern Nigeria to build trust and promote national cohesion.
