Security operatives in Kwara State have arrested a suspected member of Miyetti Allah who was allegedly found in possession of a rifle reportedly issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
The suspect was apprehended during a security operation as authorities intensify efforts to curb rising terror-related attacks and violent crimes across parts of the country. Sources within the security agencies said the arrest has raised serious concerns over the circulation of official firearms outside authorised channels.
According to preliminary findings, the rifle recovered from the suspect bears markings suggesting it was issued through official security channels, prompting an immediate investigation into how it came into civilian possession.
Security officials said the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, while relevant agencies have launched a probe to determine possible links to armed groups, collaborators, or lapses within the system.
The development comes amid growing public anxiety over insecurity, with renewed calls for accountability, tighter arms control, and transparent investigations into the proliferation of weapons used in violent attacks.
