A disturbing incident has been reported in Goska community, Kaninkon Ward, Kafanchan, in Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where a 15-year-old girl, identified as Endurance Sabon, was violently attacked following her family’s refusal of a forced marriage proposal.
According to local reports, armed attackers, suspected to be herdsmen, allegedly stormed the community and assaulted the teenager in retaliation for the rejection. The incident has left residents traumatised and fearful, once again highlighting deep concerns over insecurity, forced marriages, and the safety of minors in rural areas.
Community members have condemned the attack and are calling on security agencies and the Kaduna State Government to urgently investigate the incident, apprehend those responsible, and provide protection for vulnerable families.
Human rights groups have also denounced the act, stressing that forced marriage is illegal and constitutes a gross violation of children’s rights. They emphasized that minors must be protected under the law, not subjected to violence or intimidation.
The incident has intensified calls for decisive action by authorities to curb violence and lawlessness, particularly crimes affecting women and children across Nigeria.
