A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has deferred ruling on the bail application of former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, ordering that he remain in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre until Thursday.
Ngige was brought before the court on charges filed by prosecuting authorities, the details of which were outlined during proceedings on Tuesday. Following arguments from both the prosecution and defence counsel, the presiding judge announced that a decision on the bail request would be reserved for a later date.

During the hearing, counsel to the former minister urged the court to grant bail, arguing that Ngige is a well-known public figure who would not jump bail and has consistently cooperated with investigative agencies.
However, the prosecution opposed the application, citing the seriousness of the charges and requesting that the defendant be remanded in custody pending the court’s ruling.
