The Democratic Republic of Congo’s football director has reacted following a petition reportedly submitted by Nigeria to FIFA over the alleged fielding of ineligible players by the DR Congo national team.
Responding to the development, the DR Congo football official dismissed the allegations, insisting that all players used by the team were duly registered and eligible under FIFA rules. He described Nigeria’s petition as unfounded and expressed confidence that FIFA’s review would clear DR Congo of any wrongdoing.
The reaction comes amid heightened tension following recent international fixtures, with Nigeria reportedly seeking sanctions or a review of match outcomes based on the eligibility concerns.
Football stakeholders across Africa are now awaiting FIFA’s decision, which could have implications for qualification standings and future fixtures if the claims are upheld.
As of now, FIFA has not issued an official ruling on the matter.
