Former two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua delivered a dominant performance on Saturday night, knocking out social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul in the sixth round of a highly anticipated exhibition bout.
The fight, held before a packed arena, drew massive global attention as fans tuned in to see whether Paul could withstand the power and experience of the British heavyweight. From the opening bell, Joshua controlled the contest with superior footwork, ring intelligence, and heavy jabs that kept Paul on the defensive.
Jake Paul showed resilience in the early rounds, attempting to use movement and counterpunching to frustrate Joshua. However, the gulf in experience became increasingly evident as the fight progressed. Joshua gradually broke Paul down with precise combinations and body shots.
The end came in the sixth round when Joshua landed a crushing right hand that sent Paul to the canvas. Although Paul attempted to rise, the referee waved off the contest, declaring a knockout victory for Joshua.
Speaking after the fight, Joshua praised Paul for stepping into the ring but emphasized the difference between elite professional boxing and crossover bouts.
“Respect to Jake for having the courage to get in there,” Joshua said. “But this is a different level. Boxing isn’t something you can shortcut.”
Paul, in his post-fight comments, acknowledged Joshua’s superiority and vowed to continue improving.
The exhibition bout further fueled debate about celebrity boxing, with many observers noting that while crossover fights attract attention, they also highlight the vast gap between elite champions and newer entrants to the sport.
